Multiplying Hope in Refugee Camps

A few days ahead of World Refugee Day, we want to share a story of hope that shines from the heart of a South Sudanese Refugee Camp.

Rev Joel Sebit Augustino’s journey began in the shadows. Forced to flee his home, Joel found himself searching for purpose and hope in the midst of uncertainty. But everything changed when he encountered the Precept Uganda Institute. Through our Inductive Bible Study training, Joel discovered not just knowledge, but transformation.

“The previous studies really helped me to prepare for my sermon using a lesson plan. I’m gaining experience from this learning and training on the Inductive Bible Study method, namely the 3 components of observation, interpretation and application. I understand more about the lessons I got in these courses, which really grows me as a leader in ministry. I am planning that in the future I will get more knowledge about God and remember Him and praise and worship Him. I plan to go and train my congregation so that they, too, can know God.”

Joel’s story is a powerful example of how the biblical training offered through the Institute not only equips individuals with practical skills, but also sparks a deep passion to disciple others. With each lesson, Joel grew in confidence, learning to teach, lead, and share hope, multiplying the impact far beyond himself within the refugee camps.

Countless others like Joel are still waiting in the many camps across Africa. Refugees, hungry for hope and truth to make sense of the situation they find themselves in. By partnering with Precept Africa, you can help provide the resources needed to reach more displaced refugees with the only source of hope and truth, God’s Word.
